In May 2018 the way that organisations are obliged to treat your personal data changed with the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Spotlight continues to respect your right to choose how we use any personal data that you may have given us.  We collect information about you when you make a donation, take part in an event, volunteer, make a general enquiry, sign up to one of our newsletters or get involved in our campaigns. This may cover anything from your contact and payment information, or your responses to questionnaires we've sent you and feedback you've provided.

This policy explains how we use any personal information we collect about you when you use our website or get in touch with us. 

We would like to reassure you that Spotlight will never sell, trade or rent your details (email, address, telephone, IP address) to third parties for marketing purposed.

We will only keep information about you for as long as we need to, depending for instance on the nature of the information e.g. payment information, general enquiry. After the retention period has elapsed, the data is deleted or archived.

We will only keep the information that you have provided us with for the purposes you would expect such as:

  • Administering your support or enquiry

  • Telling you about the latest appeals where we need your support

  • Helping us to improve what we do

  • To let you know about ways to volunteer, events and ways you can be involved

You can update your preferences at any time and we want to make sure that your personal information is accurate and up to date, so please always let us know if you think it is not.
