The fourth HSOA Golf and Dinner, on Tuesday 13th October.
Thanks go to the sponsors of the event: Aldwickbury Park Golf Club, I.J. Jinks CNC Services, Hicks Accountants and The Small Removal Company, to the 51 local businesses which kindly donated prizes and to the 65 people who came and donated generously to the event.
Players brought their own teams, of 3 or 4 players, and competed for 2 team and 20 individual prizes. The winning team comprised HSOA’s Steve McConnell with Steve Cook and Andy Reid. There were 42 golfers. The low handicap winner was Simon Kitchener, 2nd was Chris Westcott. High handicap winner was Pete Ridding, 2nd was Mike Hollick.
65 people very much enjoyed the evening which included a good three course dinner, a moving presentation by Hillary Hollick on HSOA’s projects, 18 donated raffle prizes and an auction of 13 donated items including Fourballs at Centurion, Burhill, Essendon, Wellingborough, Wycombe Heights and Aldwickbury, an Adams hybrid club donated by Golf Marketing Services, and a 3 course a la carte dinner donated by the Auberge du Lac at Brocket Hall.
Thanks to your great generosity, the event made a profit of £4,083. This will pay for 30 more children to attend the school, which HSOA built and runs, or for 80% of the cost of another borehole for clean water – the 25 boreholes already delivered have eliminated cholera, for the first time in living memory, in the rural villages which HSOA supports, near Mbale in eastern Uganda.
